Shaq and Ballet

So yesterday we had a MLK assembly at school (yes it was late, but that's a different story). There was a great speaker and some of the kids performed poems and dances and the choir sang and my kids behaved, which was the most amazing thing of all. One of the performances was by the dance class, which did an interpretive dance to the song "Strange Fruit" sung by Billie Holiday, which is beautiful and very sad. The kids did a great job, but there was quite a bit of intermittent laughter, which I was getting very upset about - unti I realized that one of the kids in that dance class is the kid I call "BFP" - "Big Friendly Polynesian" - a 350 pound, 6'6" Polynesian kid with long, flowing black hair, who was dancing in the back row. I have to admit, it was a little funny. He didn't do anything inappropriate, and he was supposed to be there, but it was a little funny. Then the speaker got up on stage and complimented the BFP on his performance and said that he was going to tell his wife that night that it was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen - Shaq dancing ballet.
