Culture Clash

Today was the culmination of Multicultural Week, and we celebrated it with a Food Fair. The kids sell foods from around the world in the commons and it is the best day of the year. Seriously, it's awesome.

Today during 4th period, some of my kids were watching other students set up (my room looks over the commons). Several of the kids were drooling over assortment of food at the Latin Student Union table and one excitedly said, "hey, they have Mexican eggrolls!"

I looked at her and said "Um....those are taquitos."

Mexican eggrolls indeed.

I love that. Over here May Day is a huge deal. At our school Friday there was all the booths and the May Day court and show. The polynesian club performs and they are awesome.

OK, I'm drooling over this post. Do you think I could teach at your school-at least for this one day? BTW, please don't forget Sx3 today. We're celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a Tex-Mex cookbook giveaway! Perhaps they have a recipe for Mexican Eggrolls...it's worth a shot!
