Fancy Schmancy

Mom didn't want to cook today, and as previously stated on this blog, I do NOT like to cook, so we went to Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant called Yarrow Bay Grill today. It was probably the nicest restaurant I have ever been to (er....I don't go out much, but it WAS nice...). They had an abbreviated menu for Thanksgiving, and it was good. We sat right on the water and had it been not so frigid, we would have taken more pictures outside. Definitely the nicest Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had, but I did miss the extended family thing. Happy Thanksgiving everyone....

The dishes were pretty...

The view from the table, looking northeast across the lake

Bread....yum.

First course was butternut squash soup (I think). I do not like squash or mushrooms, but this was very good. I even ate part of a mushroom.

The second course was salad, mixed greens topped with house vinaigrette, feta cheese, and persimmons. I ate everything but the persimmons. They were way too sweet.

This was the main course (for me)....turkey, gravy, stuffing, broccoli, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and cranberries. I did not eat the sweet potatoes (bleah) partly because they were topped with pecans. That right there should tell you that I am not a true Texan, despite having lived there for ten years.
Mom does not like mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, etc.... (I KNOW.) so she had broiled salmon glazed with a honey miso glaze, on a bed of coconut rice and mixed vegetables. The presentation on hers was better than mine.
Of course, then comes dessert....what to choose, what to choose..... as if there's an option.

Thanks for lunch, mom.....Everything was excellent and the service was fabulous.

YUM!! I would have had total order envy with both of your meals. You are soooo not a southerner with your distaste for pe-cans and sweet potaters. But good to see you went for the chocolate.

Looks good...much better than my presentation :) I have to agree on the sweet potatos with pecans... not for me either.
