6 Word Memoirs

The teacher down the hall from me is a junior language arts teacher, and is probably the best in the building at putting his kids work up in the hall. One of the assignments that he does is Six Word Memoirs, where the kids put their life into 6 words. He posts them in the hall for all to see (no names) and I took some pictures today:

I feel some explanation is needed here....."filthy" is Seattle slang for "awesome"

Some of them are a bit enigmatic.....And some of them make me a little sad.
Some of them make me think....Some of them have unexpected twists......And some of them are kind of poignant. A few of them are wise beyond their years.....And some of them make you thankful.

These kids are DEEP! Your colleague should consider compiling a book of these. I'll bet it would sell. Seriously!

The book of these (created by Smith Magazine, I think ...) is pretty amazing, too. The remind me of Post Secret.

These are wonderful, the pictures that you took. I was thinking of doing something similar but creating a webpage of them.

Wow! These are incredible- wish I had students who are capable of such thoughts and statements.
