I went grocery shopping today, and the checker put all my items (consisting of square items and round items) into my grocery bag thusly: It's not quite EXACTLY like mom used to do it........
Sorry I am a little late on reading your post. I am catching up on your teaching blog - Carla told me about it.
To comment on this post, some months ago, we finally had self checkout lines installed at one of our local grocery stores. Now, I bag my own groceries so the cashiers won't destroy the things I purchase. They used to either throw anything in a bag together or put 2 items in a bag and put it in your cart - what a waste of resources. It really doesn't take too much sense to bag groceries - but I guess that is just too much to ask for. I like bagging my groceries, so I love the chance to do it right. Ah, the venting is over - thanks for the post!

Probably was Geometry-challenged in high school...
Just wondering - did the plastic bag tax pass?
That's why I bag my own groceries. They don't even try when they see it's me.
